Project Summary
PEC provided owner’s engineering, commissioning and energisation services on the following Eastern Cape wind farms for Nordex Energy / Acciona, which were awarded power purchase agreements (PPAs) under the South African Department of Energy’s renewable energy program:
- 140MW Amakhala Wind Farm;
- 110MW Gibson Bay Wind Farm;
- 100MW Dorper Wind Farm;
- 80MW Kouga Wind Farm.

What We Did

PEC assisted Nordex Energy / Acciona with the tender process for various suppliers, designing the 33kV collector and 132kV switchyard substations, and engineering assistance during the Factory Acceptance Testing, on-site commissioning, and energisation.

PEC also reviewed the protection settings, specifically the grid code protection settings compliance, and verified the earthing study calculations performed by the electrical balance of plant contractor.

PEC lastly evaluated the electrical evacuation design for grid code and OHS Act compliance.
