Nairobi Ring 400kV Transmission Line Owner's Engineering & Project Management
OVERVIEW
Project Summary
PEC and POWER Engineers provided owner’s engineer services in the form of EPC contractor design reviews and construction supervision for approximately 110km of new 400kV and 220kV transmission lines and five new substations for the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO). The Nairobi Ring project expands the transmission network around Nairobi to reduce technical losses and improve voltage conditions to better cope with a growing demand on the local system.
PEC established an office in Nairobi for this project and provided an on-site team of construction supervisors and inspectors for both the lines and substations. Our design review services included the verification of electrical system studies and of the final designs for overhead and underground transmission lines and substations. This design review also included technology transfer to the KETRACO staff in the form of on-site training.
